What Does Being a 1% for the Planet Member Actually Mean?
Great question. It means we’ve made a commitment to donate at least 1% of our annual sales—not just profits—to vetted environmental nonprofits doing important work around the world. So every time you buy something from Poplinen, a portion of that purchase goes directly toward people and projects working to make our world a healthier, more equitable place.
We joined because we wanted to put our money where our heart is. And in our case, that heart beats especially loud for climate justice, women’s empowerment, and grassroots change.
Why We Support Women’s Earth Alliance (WEA)
When we were choosing where to direct our 1%, we discovered Women’s Earth Alliance—and instantly knew we’d found our people.
WEA is an incredible nonprofit that invests in women-led environmental solutions around the world. Think: clean water access in Kenya, climate-resilient farming in India, renewable energy programs led by Indigenous women in the U.S.—and that’s just the beginning. They equip women with the training, tools, and funding to protect their communities and the Earth, all while building leadership and economic opportunity.
These women are on the frontlines of climate change and on the frontlines of solving it. And as a women-founded, women-centered brand, supporting WEA just felt right. Their work reminds us that when women are empowered, everyone benefits.
